Tropical North Queensland Adventure

Our family – my dad, mum and sister, finally got a chance to go on a family holiday together since 2007. Dad is a construction manager on high-rises in Brisbane and the Gold Coast so his job is very high demanding and doesn’t allow him for too much holiday or time off.  So, for Mum’s 50th birthday we headed to Cairns in North Queensland for a 4 night holiday and it was beautiful! We went to Millaa Millaa falls, Fitzroy Island, Norman’s Reef & Saxon’s Reef. Definitely going back soon!

Below are a few photos of the coral on the Great Barrier Reef, and it was definitely a wake up call. All the pollution and global warming had caused a major coral bleaching earlier this year from the rise in ocean temperature, hence the photos of the coral are not very vibrant or colourful. It’s very sad that one of Australia’s most magnificent natural wonders is quickly being destroyed!

We drove about 2 hours through windy roads in the Atherton Tablelands to reach this beautiful sight of Millaa Millaa Falls – bit of car sickness though!

The lighthouse walk at Fitzroy Island. The incline was insanely hard. Would recommend not wearing sandals!

The coral at Saxon’s Reef. Unfortunately the coral had experienced a lot of Coral bleaching from the pollution and global warming and isn’t as colourful and vibrant anymore.
